Luxurious holiday homes in new zealand

Local tourism information for holiday home stays, locations, activities and events

Explore the sights and sounds of Nelson New Zealand. Nelson Tasman Tourism is the official tourism site for the Nelson Tasman region, located on the South Island of New Zealand. Traveling to Nelson is easier than you think, by sea, by land, or by air. (i-site is the official visitor information centre)

Stretch your legs
There are a number of easy walks around Nelson City which the whole family can enjoy together – climb to the lofty heights of the Centre of New Zealand or visit Cable Bay and learn about the first telegraph cable into the South Island. The Boulder Bank and historic lighthouse are also easily accessible from Nelson waterfront aboard the Haulashore Ferry – why not take a picnic and see Nelson from the sea.

Passionate for Picnics?
Picnicing and BBQs are the Kiwi way to get together – Tahunanui Beach is only minutes from the city centre and as well as safe swimming, offers a fun park complete with waterslides and bumpa boats and a nature park. Rabbit Island is a favourite with the locals and offers long sandy beaches, BBQ facilities and great opportunities for games of hide and seek.

Get historical
Explore the sights and sounds of our forefathers at one of the regions many museums or at Founders Historic Park – a ‘living’ museum which offers a fascinating insight into the way we used to live. With an adventure playground, a cafe and a decommissioned DC10 – there is something for everyone.

Explore the landscape
If you are planning to drive over to Golden Bay, don’t miss Ngarua Caves where you can check out the prehistoric Moa bones. Just outside Takaka lies the clearest freshwater springs in the world – Te Waikoropupu Springs which has well maintained boardwalks and plenty of educational information about the history of the area and the regenerating bush.

We’re singing in the rain!
From the wonderful World of WearableArt and Collectable Cars to an indoor climbing wall, there is still plenty to keep them occupied on rainy days. Why not try your hand at painting your own ceramics – or get crafty at the Bead Gallery. There are movie theatres in Nelson, Motueka and Takaka or there’s always the indoor Aquatic Centre in Richmond with facilities for toddlers, grandparents and everyone in between!
