The Nelson Arts Festival in October showcases a kaleidoscope of local, national and international talent. For free family fun over the summer holidays check out the Sealord Summer Festival. You can't miss Opera In The Park - don’t forget to bring out the picnic rugs on a balmy February evening. The School of Music Winter Festival is a great way to warm up in July.

The sheer variety of stunning Nelson landscapes are the backdrop to events such as Rainbow Rage, a 106km mountain bike adventure ride through some of the South Island's spectacular sub alpine country, the Antique and Classic Boat Show held on Lake Rotoiti in Nelson Lakes National Park, a great way to spend a day for old and young alike and if running through one of the most well known national parks in New Zealand is your thing, go for it at the Abel Tasman Coastal Classic in the Abel Tasman National Park.

Nelson is also a very popular conference destination, with groups, large and small convening in venues throughout the region, and also enjoying some of Nelson’s attractions as a group.
